About Mobile Website Traffic

What does this tool measure?

It shows how a website's real visitors split between desktop, mobile and tablet devices. The data comes from the Chrome User Experience Report, Google's own sampling of actual Chrome users over the trailing 28 days - the same dataset Google uses to grade Core Web Vitals.
That makes it useful for two different jobs: checking your own site's device mix without needing access to its analytics, and checking anyone else's - a competitor, a prospect, a client you have not signed yet. Analytics dashboards answer this question only for sites you own; this answers it for any site Google has enough data on.

Why does the device split matter in 2026?

Because it should set your priorities. A site with seventy percent mobile visitors should be judged - and fixed - mobile-first: mobile page speed, mobile layouts, tap targets, the mobile checkout. A site whose audience is overwhelmingly desktop, which is common for B2B software and professional services, can reasonably weight its effort differently.
Search engines made the choice for you on the indexing side: the mobile rendering of a page is the version that gets indexed regardless of your audience. But conversion work, design decisions and testing time should follow where your visitors actually are, and the split varies far more between sites than most people expect.

How is this different from my analytics?

Your analytics counts every measurable visitor across every browser. This tool reports Google's sample of Chrome users only, and Chrome on iPhones and iPads does not contribute to it at all. In practice that means the mobile share reported here can run below what your analytics shows for an iPhone-heavy audience, and tablets are almost always under-represented.
The two are complementary rather than competing. Analytics is the precise record of your own site; this is an independent, like-for-like yardstick that works on any site, including ones whose analytics you will never see.

Device mix best practices

  • Let the split set your testing priorities: if mobile is the majority, test on a phone before a desktop browser, not after.
  • Compare your device mix against competitors in your niche; a much lower mobile share can mean a mobile experience that turns visitors away.
  • Check the mix before a redesign, not after - it should inform the design brief.
  • Treat a heavily desktop audience as a fact about your visitors, not permission to neglect mobile; the mobile version is still the one search engines index.
  • Re-check periodically. Device mix drifts as your content and acquisition channels change.

Bu aracın kontrol ettikleri

The tool queries the Chrome User Experience Report for the site and charts the desktop, mobile and tablet share of its real Chrome visitors over the last 28 days.
Smaller websites may not appear in Google's sample at all - the dataset only includes sites with enough traffic to report on. If no data is available, that is a property of the site's traffic volume, not an error.

Sonraki adımlar

If mobile is a meaningful share of the traffic, check the experience those visitors get: run the mobile responsiveness tester to see the page on phone and tablet screens, and the Core Web Vitals testi to see how it performs for real users.
