About High Search Volume Keywords

What counts as high search volume?

There is no universal number. A thousand searches a month is enormous in a specialist industry and negligible in consumer retail, so the useful comparison is always against the other terms in the same subject rather than against a fixed bar.
That is why the floor here is yours to set. Start where the list stops being useful and move it until the terms you are seeing are ones you would genuinely write for.
This tool applies no difficulty ceiling, so it shows the high search volume terms around your seed whether or not you could realistically rank for them - which is the right answer when you are sizing a market rather than picking a target.

What volume does and does not tell you

Monthly volume is an average, and averages hide shape. A term searched heavily for six weeks a year reports the same monthly figure as one searched steadily, so a trend matters more than the headline number.
It counts searches rather than visits. A meaningful share end without a click at all, satisfied by the results page itself, so volume sets a ceiling on traffic rather than predicting it.
And it says nothing about whether you could win the term. A high volume keyword with a difficulty of 80 is a description of somebody else's traffic, which is why this list is a starting point rather than a plan.

Reading the list honestly

Expect the top of the list to be competitive. Volume and difficulty correlate strongly, because the terms worth the most attract the most effort, and the biggest keyword around any seed is usually the hardest one.
The difficulty column is there for that reason. Use it to sort the list into what you might realistically target now and what is a longer project, rather than reading top to bottom.
When you want the reachable end of that same list, the low competition tool filters on difficulty instead, and High Search Volume, Low Competition Keywords applies both at once.

Does search volume still matter in 2026?

It matters as a way of comparing terms rather than as a forecast. Results are personalised and increasingly answered in place, so any figure claiming to predict visits is doing more guessing than measuring.
What holds up is the relationship between terms. If one keyword is searched ten times as often as another, that stays informative even when neither absolute number is exact.
The shift worth noting is that high volume informational terms have lost the most to AI summaries. Volume alone therefore overstates the value of the broadest terms and understates the specific ones underneath them.

What this tool checks

The tool takes a seed keyword, asks our index for related keywords, and keeps only the high search volume ones - those at or above the minimum monthly volume you set. Results are ordered by volume, largest first.
Difficulty, cost per click and competition are shown alongside, so the list can be read for reachability as well as size without running a second search.
Figures come from our index rather than a live search, so they describe the picture held for those keywords and that location rather than results as they stand this second.

Where to go next

If what you actually want is the overlap - High Search Volume, Low Competition Keywords - the combined tool applies both thresholds at once and returns only the terms that clear each.
Sizing a market is the first step; pricing individual terms is the next. Score one with the keyword difficulty checker, see every figure together in the keyword statistics tool, and check what a term is worth commercially with the cost of keywords tool.
