About Estimated Search Traffic

What a website traffic checker can and cannot tell you

No tool outside a site's own analytics can see its real visitor numbers. What a website traffic checker does instead is model them: take the full set of keywords a domain ranks for, multiply each one's monthly search volume by a typical click-through rate for the position it holds, and add the results up.
That produces an estimate of traffic from search, which is a narrower thing than traffic. Direct visits, email, social, referrals and paid channels other than search are all invisible to it, so a site with a strong newsletter and a modest search footprint will look far quieter here than it is.
Read as a comparison rather than a count, though, the number does real work. Two competitors measured the same way, or the same domain measured over time, tells you something useful even when neither figure is precisely right.

Organic, paid and AI Overviews

This tool splits the estimate three ways, because traffic from a search result no longer arrives by a single route:
  • Google Organic - clicks on the ordinary unpaid results.
  • Paid - clicks on the ads a domain is bidding for above and below them.
  • AI Overviews - clicks on the source links beneath a generated summary.
The split is often more informative than the total. A domain whose estimate is mostly paid has bought its visibility and will lose it the month the budget stops; one with a large organic figure has earned something more durable.

Why estimated traffic matters in 2026

The gap between rankings and traffic has widened. AI Overviews, ad blocks and SERP features push the classic results further down the page, so the same position converts to fewer visits than it used to and a rankings report on its own now overstates how much attention a site is getting.
Traffic estimates absorb some of that, since click-through assumptions are what turn a position into a number. They are still assumptions, but they at least account for the fact that being tenth is worth very little.
Watching all three figures together is where the value is. Organic falling while the AI Overview share grows is a very different story from organic falling on its own, and only the split tells them apart.

How to use the number sensibly

Treat it as directional. If the tool says forty thousand visits a month, the useful reading is "this is a substantial site", not "this is a site with forty thousand visits".
It is at its best in competitive research, where you have no other way to size a rival. Running the same check across four or five competitors gives you a ranking of them that is far more reliable than any individual figure in it.
For your own domain, the estimate is worth comparing against your analytics once. Learning that the model reads your site as roughly half its actual search traffic tells you how to interpret every competitor estimate you produce afterwards.

What this tool checks

The tool looks up the keyword profile we hold for the domain you enter and reports the estimated monthly visitors from Google search, broken into organic, paid and AI Overview traffic.
Figures come from our index rather than a live measurement, so they will not reflect a change you made in the last few weeks.

Where to go next

The traffic figure is a summary of a keyword profile, and the profile is where the detail is. See the terms behind the organic number with the top keyword rankings check, the ones behind the paid number with the PPC checker tool, and the queries a domain is cited on with the AI overviews checker.
